About Massage Therapy Works

Celebrating 12 years in Davis Square  (1997 - 2009) and open 7 days a week!

Our office is handicapped-accessible and we specialize in working with individuals with chronic pain. Our role is primarily one of facilitation. We firmly believe in your body's innate ability to heal itself, and yet, it is often apparent that some level of intervention is required to help one's mind-body make an energetic shift towards a state of balance and, ultimately, self-healing.

We have four private treatment rooms and currently sixteen professionally-trained knowledgeable bodyworkers dedicated to helping you maintain your health and recover from your injuries. At no extra charge we'll even help you to better understand how your body is attempting to deal with the stresses of life - physical, mental, and emotional, and what you can do about it.

Children are also welcomed as clients. Participation in sports, repetitive movements (and non-movement) while practicing a musical instrument, maintaining a hunched-over forward posture while reading or playing on a computer, and dealing as best as possible with managing the various stressors of school-life - emotional, mental, and physical (carting around a very heavy backpack) are just a few reasons why massage and/or bodywork might be considered in your choice of alternatives. (Please note that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult during treatments.)

Policies & Procedures

Cancellations

At Massage Therapy Works we understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone's life. Business meetings, project deadlines, flight delays, car problems, snowstorms, and illness are just a few reasons why one might consider canceling an appointment. In our desire to be effective and fair to all of our clients and out of consideration for our therapists' time, we have adopted the following policies:

• 24 hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to avail themselves of our services.
• If you are unable to give us 24 hours advance notice and we are unable to fill your time slot, you will be charged the full amount of what would have been your treatment fee. At our discretion this charge will be either automatically deducted from the outstanding balance of an existing "value plan" or gift certificate; otherwise, it must be paid in full prior to your next treatment.
• On the other hand, if we are able to fill "your" time slot with somebody else, you will not be charged for that missed appointment.

No-shows

Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a "no-show". They will be charged for their "missed" appointment and future service will be denied until payment is made.

Arriving late

If you are not present for your scheduled session during the first 15 minutes (unless having telephoned us you might be late), it will be construed by us that you are a "no-show", and that time slot will automatically become available for someone else. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment...and regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the "full" session.

Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.
